Jung Kook graces the cover of Rolling Stone UK magazine for the February/March 2026 issue.
South Korean singer, dancer, and songwriter, best known as the main vocalist and youngest member (maknae) of the global K-pop group BTS. He debuted with BTS in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. Known for his powerful vocals, strong stage presence, and versatility, he has contributed to many of the group’s biggest hits and has also released successful solo tracks such as Euphoria, My Time, Seven, and Standing Next to You. Jung Kook is widely recognized for his influence in global pop culture, exceptional performance skills, and wide-ranging artistic talents.
There are many questions surrounding Jung Kook – global popstar, member of BTS, and one of the most famous faces on the planet. From what it feels like to step back into the spotlight as a bona fide solo star and part of 21st century pop icons BTS, to what their return might look and sound like. As the group is quietly making music for their next album in Los Angeles, Rolling Stone UK meets him in a sunlit studio on New York’s West Side hours after a surprise appearance at Calvin Klein’s Spring/Summer show in New York Fashion Week.
In his first – and only – solo interview this year, he speaks about how he now puts his wellbeing first, becoming an adult and teasing new music.
Jung Kook on always moving forward:
“I’ve always pursued change. I want to be an artist who doesn’t get dragged by the flow, but creates the flow. I don’t want to be confined – I want to be an artist without limits.”
Jung Kook on his solo debut ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ which topped global charts including the US Billboard Hot 100:
“Everything felt like a hassle, [Then] ‘Seven’ made me want to get back to it. I really loved ‘Seven’ and felt confident performing it, but I was still surprised by how well it was received. That reaction gave me even more confidence.”
Jung Kook on whether he feels ‘closer to himself’ yet:
“Honestly, I don’t think I’m that close to myself yet. But hearing this question makes me realise I need to love and care for myself more. Exercising and maintaining healthy habits – that’s part of the routine of loving myself.”
Jung Kook on new music:
“This is a time where I can evaluate whether I can take another leap forward. Rather than doing the same kind of performances or similar songs repeatedly, I’m trying new things and continuing to evolve so I can show different sides of myself.”
